During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

41866 14/05/2022 NCI Hengistbury Head Motor boat, at anchor, reported to NCI they had been struck by a sailing yacht. Bow damaged but not taking on water. Advised to call HMCG, and NCI advices CG they had visual. , Vessel decided to return to harbour, but had to wait for tide. NCI monitored until vessel safe. Fire No Yes 012087
41867 14/05/2022 NCI Worms Head MOP on island reported to NCI his wife had fallen and injured her head and neck. W/K called HMCG on 999, and gave casualties phone number. 41844 13/05/2022 NCI Nells Point HMCG requested visual on windsurfers, negative, monitoring requested. Windsurfer reported in difficulty, CRT, AWLB and ILB tasked as on service. 41845 12/05/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 paddle boaters washed against rocks. One board damaged, both casualties on rocks. HMCG informed, visual maintained, ILB and CRT tasked. 41824 11/05/2022 NCI Gosport Yacht informed NCI on Ch65 it had lost power as it was entering harbour. HMCG and QHM informed. casualty made way under reefed sail. 41808 07/05/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 3 jet skiers, one fell off but got back on. Report then heard of one injured. HMCG requested visual from NCI - negative as out of sight. 41793 06/05/2022 NCI Rhoscolyn Coasteering team called HMCG re. person fallen into sea, not breathing. CG asked if NCI had visual, negative, monitoring continued. ILBs and HELOs tasked., Casualty transferred to ILB, then to HELO at sea, Rescue vehicles used NCI station as base. Leaders of group traumatised, advised to seek counselling. Sadly casualty died. 41770 04/05/2022 NCI Portland Bill NCI observed a yacht towing a second larger yacht. The skipper of towing yacht was exhausted, and called several times on Ch65. Towed yacht then called and requested commercial sea rescue., Sea rescue declined to help, HMCG contacted and AWLB was tasked. NCI tracked LB visually until out of sight, station was then closed. 41971 03/05/2022 NCI Folkestone NCI observed RIB with 2 POB possibly in trouble. Elderly occupant was rowing, struggling with oars, no lifejacket. HMCG informed, NCI monitored situation.
