During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

50905 20/08/2024 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent Beach patrol reported wind surf board static, no-one visible. HMCG informed. Casualty then was visible by board. Loud hailer used, casualty had been stuck in lines, and then came ashore - all well. MMO No Yes 532360
50908 20/08/2024 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a sailing dinghy giving cause for concern, appeared beached and abandoned. HMCG were informed, and monitoring requested. Persons then returned to dinghy, sailed off and then grounded, Crew waded ashore and recovered dinghy later. NCI No Yes 532362
50885 19/08/2024 NCI Filey HMCG called NCI re. calls from MOP re. dinghy drifting, NCI established visual. 1 POB and 1 in water. NCI thought dinghy may be returning slowly. 50887 19/08/2024 NCI Worms Head NCI observed MOP stranded on island. Causeway closed. HMCG asked NCI to tell casualty they had been seen, but no response. 2nd casualty then seen. CRT tasked. Casualties then started fishing., AWLB tasked, but casualties stated they would carry on fishing and return when tide fell. NCI had not been informed of their intentions. NCI Yes Yes 532163
50889 19/08/2024 NCI Gosport NCI overheard radio traffic re. person threatening to jump into sea. Possibly same person as a few days ago, who had created a disturbance and may be armed. ILB and HELO tasked. NCI searched area., ILB and HELO searched, nothing seen. Casualty then confirmed to be in ambulance - assets stood down. 50904 19/08/2024 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP reporting concern for a RIB, 2 POB who now appeared missing. NCI informed CG they had been monitoring them, and they were free diving. RIB then returned to port. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50878 18/08/2024 NCI Teignmouth Vessel called NCI having run out of fuel, and was advised to call HMCG on 999. Casualty Was well and position confirmed. CG issued Pan Pan, NCI had visual. Casualty taken under tow by a PWC and taken , to mooring buoy. MCA/HMCG No Yes 531870

50884 18/08/2024 NCI Rhoscolyn NCI heard May Day twice, not distressed. Relay from HMCG, also Pan Pan from other CG station. All vessels had been monitored and all accounted for. Nothing seen. MCA/HMCG No Yes 531956
50886 18/08/2024 NCI Needles NCI observed a dinghy lost overboard from yacht. Called on Ch65 but no response. HMCG informed, who contacted vessel and they confirmed they did not intend to recover items. Items drifted ashore, and were recovered by MOP and placed in place of safety. 50890 18/08/2024 NCI Nare Point NCI observed an unmanned RIB flying 'diver down' flag. Monitored for 20 minutes, no persons seen. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Later 2 divers returned to RIB, and left area. NCI No Yes 531940
50872 18/08/2024 NCI Brancaster MOP called NCI re. person stranded on sandbank. HMCG informed, casualty then managed to wade ashore and safety. CG informed. NCI No Yes 531918
50849 17/08/2024 NCI St Donat's Bay NCI became aware of a MOP whose friend had collapsed close to lookout. HMCG informed, CRT and ambulance called. Gate access obtained by CRT and ambulance took casualty to hospital. NCI No Yes 531637
50583 17/08/2024 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed 3 jetskis in restricted area. Marine Police informed, pictures requested, but unable to act at that time. Pictures emailed to Police. NCI No No n/a
50862 17/08/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. Pan Pan from vessel with engine failure. NCI had visual. Second vessel undertook tow, Pan Pan cancelled. Casualty towed to harbour, all safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes 531663
