Cliff rock climbing

There are several very good climbing sites 3 miles west of Swanage bay. Amongst these are Subluminal, Promenade, Cormorrant Ledge, Dancing Ledge and Winspit. There are many more and these can be found on the climb Dorset website.

For comprehensive local climbing information visit Rockfax

Unfortunately the NCI station at Peveril Point Swanage has no visual contact with the coast where climbing is permitted from Anvil Point westwards. However we offer up to date weather information and will log your intentions if you contact us on 01929 422596 or by radio on chanel 65.

The NCI station lookout is manned from 0900 - 1800 seven days a week during British Summer Time & 0900 - dusk at other times.

The mission of the National Coastwatch Institute is to be the ears and eyes of the coast, cliffs and footpaths for the safety of all users. The NCI is a registered charity and depends entirely on public donations for equipment and the ability to maintain a safety watch
