Swanage has a number of tour boats coming into or passing by the bay. One of the most impressive being The Waverley seen below.
The Waverley is the last seagoing passenge -carrying paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973. Bought by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society (PSPS), she has been restored to her 1947 appearance and now operates passenger excursions around the British coast.
Since 2003 Waverley has been listed in the National Historic Fleet by National Historic Ships UK as "a vessel of pre-eminent national importance". She appeared in the 2011 film "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows".
Tours on The Waverley run in the summer from Swanage Pier and can be booked through www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk/
Above the Dorset Princess which regularly does tours of the coast from Poole coming into Swanage bay.
Moonfleet of Swanage (below) is a boat you can either learn to crew or simply sit back and relax watching others do the work. Unfortunately due to work on the pier Moonfleet has temporarily moved to Weymouth.
