MAYOR VISITS NCI HENGISTBURY HEAD

3rd October 2022. The Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Bob Lawton, paid a visit to the Hengistbury Head Lookout on Monday 3rd October.

He had heard about the work of the National Coastwatch Institution station at Hengistbury Head and its team of over 100 volunteers who keep watch over Poole & Christchurch Bays.  The Mayor, being a past member of the Merchant Navy, was very appreciative of the value of the team that ensures the Lookout maintains a watch during daylight hours 364 days per year.  Station Manager, Peter Holway, presented the Mayor with a commemorative NCI pen in recognition of the visit and the fact that in 2017, as a local Ward Councillor, Councillor Lawton had been instrumental in helping the National Coastwatch Institution charity get permission to re-open the Lookout as an NCI Station.  The Mayor thanked all those who volunteer at what is now one of the NCI’s busiest Stations for doing a “superb job” and did so “on behalf of the people of Bournemouth”.
