30th August 2022. NCI St Ives member Harry Hughes celebrated his 100th. birthday this month and also received his twenty-year award. Harry joined NCI in 2000 and although not actively watchkeeping now, Harry has been a staunch supporter raising thousands of pounds for the St Ives NCI station.
Harry served in RAF Bomber Command as a pathfinder during World War 2, completing 76 sorties over Germany as a Flight Lieutenant and was awarded the DFC and DFM. After the war, Harry became a very successful shipbroker, selling ships all over the world, before retiring to St Ives in 1984
