Recently, the NCI station at Newhaven received a phone call from HM Coastguard advising that a member of the public had reported an orange Kayak that was missing beyond its expected return time. The watchkeepers at NCI Newhaven were already monitoring the kayak in the Seaford Bay area. They had first observed the kayak inshore and later on the beach. The watchkeepers confirmed this information to HM Coastguard who then advised NCI Newhaven that the kayak owner was safe and well on the beach. The kayaker had been identified by their mother and the incident was declared closed.
