19th May 2021. Clive Pouncey has been elected the new chairman of the National Coastwatch InstitutionI in succession to Lesley Suddes, after her most successful five-year term
At today’s Annual General Meeting at the Blunsdon House hotel, near Swindon, Clive was elected as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the NCI. Clive served for 30 years with the Metropolitan Police before being appointed head of police driver training for Lincolnshire Police. Having retired, he joined NCI 2014. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2019 and took on the duties of General Secretary and managed the charity’s HR responsibilities.
Clive succeeds Lesley Suddes, who was elected National Chairman in 2016. She retired from a career in the Royal Navy as a meteorologist and oceanographer in 2010, joining NCI soon afterwards. Following a most fruitful five years as NCI chairman she has decided to stand down in order to concentrate on preparing the new NCI five-year strategy project.
Two new members were also elected to the Board of Trustees, Dr Chris Aps from NCI Gosport and Phil Styles from NCI Porthcawl
