NCI WHITSTABLE ASSISTS RNLI WITH RESCUE OF WINDSURFER

4th February 2021. The Whitstable lifeboat was launched on Sunday after HM Coastguard had received a report from NCI Whitstable about a windsurfer in difficulty off Tankerton.

The Whitstable RNLI lifeboat Lewisco was launched following reports from the volunteer watchkeepers at the Whitstable National Coastwatch Institution station about a windsurfer in difficulties.

Guided by the NCI watchkeeper, the lifeboat crew located the casualty about 900 meters offshore between the Coastwatch lookout and the Tankerton Bay Sailing Club. The windsurfer, his board and rig were brought onboard the lifeboat and landed ashore near to the sailing club into the care of the Herne Bay Coastguard Rescue Team. He did not require medical attention.
