8th June 2023.During part of the D-Day Memorial Event held on the 4th June in Lepe Country Park the volunteers of the National Coastwatch Institution station at Stone Point were entertained by the rock group Cookie Monster playing outside. The  Watchkeepers enjoyed the music but had to close the door and all the windows to be able to hear the VHF radios they monitor.

The event was a great success and many local choirs and organisations took part. The Royal British Legion standard bearers were also in attendance for the short service of Remembrance at the memorial. A spokesperson for the NCI said “The beauty of Lepe Country Park today is such a contrast to those horrific events of the D-Day landings, 79 years ago”.
