2nd July 2023. The National Coastwatch Institution station at Southend instigated the rescue of an exhausted paddleboarder struggling to make it safely back to the beach.

It all ended safely thanks to the excellent work of NCI volunteer watchkeepers, HM Coastguard and the Southend Lifeboat. For your own safety, Please wear a lifejacket or similar when out on the water - it may not look cool but could save your life (although 1 jacket is enough - choose your preferred colour!)
