15th April 2022.The National Coastwatch Institutions latest TV stars are the volunteers at NCI Needles on the Isle of Wight who were featured in the Weather World programme on the BBC News Channel at 09:30 and 20:30 on Good Friday.
Despite a brisk North Easterly wind blowing Force 6 and a wind chill of -4°C, the day of filming proved to be a great success and was enjoyed by everyone who took part,
There were three segments during the Weather World progamme featuring members of the NCI team at Needles. During the programme, an animated graphic showed how the cliff accelerates the wind flow to produce exceptionally strong gusts. This was inspired by a post by NCI Calshot watchkeeper Peter Taylor. Unfortunately, Peter was unable to take part in the filming of Weather World on the Isle of Wight due to having tested positive for covid-19!
