13th April 2022. The rebuilt NCI Lee-On-The-Solent station has been formally opened by Claire Hughes, the Director of HMCG, following an extensive rebuilding project.
Claire spoke of the many voluntary organisations that work with HMCG and how necessary is their work. She praised the time that NCI personnel give and the supporting roles played by colleague’s families before unveiling a commemorative plaque at the invitation of Station Manager Ron Hamilton.
Among the guests present were Gosport Mayor Mark Cook and the Mayoress along with Graham Burgess, the Leader of the Council. Three NCI Trustees also attended as well as NCI Gosport Station Manager Chris Church, and Technical Officer Neil who assisted with the installation of the new radios and electronics. Over 30 volunteer Watchkeepers from NCI Lee-On-The-Solent gathered to hear thanks given to Deputy Station Manager John, for managing the project from concept to finish, and due thanks given to the various NCI watchkeepers who had spent many hours carrying out the finishing touches once the builder had done the main construction, Following the opening ceremony, guests were shown around before joining the watchkeepers at Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club for refreshments.
