16th June 2023.  A meeting was recently been held to celebrate the National Coastwatch Institution station at Hengistbury Head being operational for five years and to recognise those volunteer watchkeepers who have completed five years of service with NCI.

The guest speakers included representatives from National Coastwatch Head Office, the JRCC (Joint Rescue Coordination Centre) at Fareham and Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Team. A spokesperson for NCI Hengistbury Head sais “All these parties expressed their appreciation for the work we do and gratefully acknowledged us as firmly embedded in the local Search and Rescue family”

Twenty-two Hengistbury Head NCI Watchkeepers were awarded 5 Years Service badges and certificates, including the current Station Manager, Peter Holway.
