24th November 2021. The volunteers from the National Coastwatch Institution station at Gwennap Head took to the Cornish Pirates rugby pitch to raise money for their station.
At the match on Saturday when the Pirates played Bedford Blues, 'The Captain' very kindly allowed the NCI watchkeepers to hold a much-needed fundraising collection, and even took time out from his many duties to pose for a photo with them.
A spokesperson from NCI Gwennap Head said “We were given an incredibly warm welcome from everyone we met, the generosity of the club’s supporters was amazing, and all our watchkeepers left with big springs in their step. Plus the Pirates won!”
The spokesperson added “ On behalf of everyone at NCI Gwennap Head, we would like to pass on our thanks and gratitude to all at Pirates for allowing our members to collect at the match and, in the process, provide a major boost to our post-pandemic fundraising efforts”
