NCI EXMOUTH GIVE PRESENTATION TO MAGNOLIA WOMENS INSTITUTE.

9th March 2022. The Presentations Team from NCI Exmouth were very pleased to be the guests of Magnolia Womens Institute in Exmouth where they gave a presentation on the work and history of the National Coastwatch Institution.

Deputy Station Manager Hugh De Souza said “We enjoyed talking to the ladies afterwards and being involved in their quiz concerning beach signage recognition. We spoke to them about water safety and beach hazards. Many thanks for your hospitality and the tea and biscuits!”. Hugh added “If you know of a club or society that might enjoy an informative 30-40 minute presentation from our team, please visit www.exmouthcoastwatch.co.uk and click on 'about us ' followed by "presentation team”. There is no cost involved and we would be pleased to hear from you”.

The NCI team has already visited several venues around Exmouth to talk about the work carried out by the volunteer watchkeepers, the history of the organization, and other aspects as appropriate to the audience. Hugh explained that talks can be geared to accommodate different age ranges, and interests. For example, one of the recent talks took place at Bicton College, where the content was slanted to fit with the syllabus of the course of their Military and Uniformed Services. Hugh said: "A great variety of different organizations have invited us along to talk about NCI Exmouth. Many people will pass our lookout opposite Ocean on Marine Parade and not really understand what role NCI plays in supporting Her Majesty's Coastguard as part of the Search and rescue Organization around our coastline. Our presentations give a good overview of our operations, give an understanding of how our role can support and benefit the community of Exmouth and assist in keeping our visitors and beach users safe throughout the year."
