FEMALE ROWING TEAM VISIT NCI ST IVES AS THEY PREPARE FOR WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

28th January 2022. The National Coastwatch Institution watch station at St Ives has been visited by two of the ladies from  the "All Systems Row" team which is entering the GB Row Challenge 2022.

The team of six female rowers from across the south coast of England are preparing to compete in the GB Row Challenge 2022, which starts in June. The race is over 2000 miles long, starting at London Tower Bridge, where the teams will row down the Thames and then clockwise around the coast of Great Britain before rowing back up the Thames to London Bridge.

The ladies said “Our challenge is to complete this row non-stop and unassisted in a time of 35 days to gain a World Record! Our crew formed at the start of 2021 after Jess, Steph, Lia and Charlie (all from Bexhill Rowing Club) were put in touch with Sophie, from Plymouth and Andrea, an ultramarathon runner from Bexhill. Between us, we span four decades of life and will have the oldest and the youngest ladies to compete in this race. Sophie will also be the first amputee to take part.”

Team “All Systems Row” will be checking in the NCI stations they pass and of course the volunteer watchkeepers will be keeping a lookout for them
