29th June 2023. The crew from the new National Coastwatch Institution station at Minehead in Somerset were  delighted to host Lily from BBC Radio Somerset at their recruiting stand today.

Lily chatted about why the station is being established here with Acting Station Manager Iain and Trainee Watchkeepers Debbie and Peter as well as  what the NCI does, volunteering and the future. VHF Radio chatter was provided by Trainee Watchkeepers Simon and Steve. Tune in to the BBC Radio Somerset Breakfast Show tomorrow morning to learn more!!

 This was followed by two exciting Watchkeeper training sessions running alongside each other with Induction Training for brand new volunteers followed by the start of NCI Watchkeeper training for Trainee Watchkeepers. A Huge thanks to Minehead NHS Community Hospital for the use of their wonderful facilities!
