8th January 2022. At the beginning of January, Richard Parks, Station Manager of NCI Charlestown was contacted by Jack Murley, a weekend presenter at BBC Radio Cornwall. who wanted to record a short interview about the volunteers of the National Coastwatch Institution.

A couple of days later, Mr Murley visited the NCI station at Charlestown and met with Richard to record an interview focussing on the work of the NCI and how important we are to the local community. Richard said “When Jack visited the lookout we had to adhere to both the NCI and BBC Covid protocols.Despite the foul weather and having to keep the door open in a Force 8 South Westerly gale with pouring rain, the interview went well. Jack made it very easy, just like having an informal chat really”.

The interview was broadcast in two parts early the following Saturday morning and again in full on the Jack Murley Sunday show.
