21st July 2021. Author Richard Trahair has set his most recent book around NCI Cape Cornwall with a fictional Watchkeeper as the central character. The book is titled Bleak Encounter at the Cape and is dedicated to the National Coastwatch Institution. In addition, Richard has decided to donate all profits from the book to NCI Cape Cornwall.
A dead body is discovered at the Cape by a local volunteer Watchkeeper who decides in a spirit of Cornish self-reliance to pursue his own investigation of the affair, which is baffling the local police. Not an everyday job for our watchkeepers but it's the beginning of a must read, new crime novel by Richard Trahair - based around the beautiful Cape Cornwall and the stunning West Penwith coastline.
There is a book launch event for Bleak Encounter at the Cape being held at the Cookbook in St Just on 3rd September with watchkeepers present to put on an exhibition of our work.
