On 23rd January 2022. On Sunday, a member of the public called 999 to speak to HM Coastguard after spotting what they believed was a body in the water off Llantwit Beach.
However, the watchkeepers at the National Coastwatch Institution station at St Donats Bay had already spotted the 'body' and were monitoring the situation. They were able to report to HM Coastguard that it was a practise dummy being used in a training exercise by Coastguard helicopter CG187 and Barry RNLI.
It is always worth reporting any concerns about something in the water or on the shore or coastal path - please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
